Vire-Clessé wine
The AOC (Appellation d'Origine Controlee) Clessé-Vire, which only in the 90 years is granted, is the youngest of the municipal-Mâcon appellations. The grapes are grown in plots of four villages, including Clessé and Vire. The aromas of the Vire-Clessé reminiscent of acacia and honey with nuances of minerals. The wines are best when they are three to five years old. The vineyards on the hills offer views over the Saônedal. The efforts of the local vintners have the status of the parcels to get to know local appellation. The Chardonnay grape (named after the nearby village) provides a powerful, yet subtle wine with a nice lively aftertaste.
